Looking back on sunny Coverack

Looking back at Coverack: Strange how much better things look in the sunshine...
Approaching Dean Quarry

A good start: The marshy, beachy, sea-level area before Dean Quarry is pleasant walking
Er...

Where shall we go? What we like best is a really clearly-marked path
The quarry itself

The quarry itself: The path cuts right through, and it is an interesting sight with some effort being made to explain the operation to path users
Halfway point 1

Only 315 miles to go: Lisa at the path's halfway point
Halfway point 2

You mean I've got to do it all again? Andy at the halfway point
Fishing boats at Porthallow

Boats at Porthallow: The fleet here is a pretty small one but their registration marks remind us that we're drawing near Falmouth
Close to Nare Point

Off The Lizard: This small headland is the eastern boundary between The Lizard and the rest of Cornwall
Distant signs of Falmouth

First sight of Falmouth: Ships moored in the Carrick Roads
Helford River

A new experience: The entrance to Gillan Creek and the Helford River. We soon decided we wanted to see a lot more of this area
St Anthony in Meneage waits across Gillan Creek

So near, yet so far: St Anthony in Meneage lies across the very tidal Gillan Creek - it's a long detour
No sign of the stones

Look carefully: We didn't know it when we set off round the creek, but stepping stones were only minutes from being uncovered here
The head of the creek

Half way 'round: This was taken just after turning back towards the coast at the head of Gillan Creek
A road runs by it

High and dry: Despite the extra miles, it's actually a very pleasant walk. We'd have liked to have seen it at high tide though
Looking up the Helford River

Big brother: Gillan Creek is a mere trickle compared with the Helford River, seen here disappearing inland

Helford village

Picture postcard: Helford is one of those unspoiled villages that on closer inspection turns out to largely consist of holiday cottages
