100 days

Here’s a great idea if you’re looking to get motivated to become more active in 2011. Running gurus John Bingham and Jenny Hadfield have launched a 100-day challenge.

They say: “The challenge is to move, intentionally, for 30 minutes every day for 100 days. It doesn’t matter what kind of activity as long as it’s intentional. You can move for 30 minutes once, 15 minutes twice, or 10 minutes three times. It has to be continuous.”

And you certainly don’t have to start on January 1 – just do 30 minutes of fun, intentional movement for 100 continuous days. You can download the 100 Days of Movement chart here and record your progress. Coloured pencils are positively encouraged.

So far we’ve managed between us a 30-minute run, 30 minutes of Tai Chi and the first allotment dig-over of the year. In all honesty, since we’ve committed ourselves to running a half-marathon in May, tomorrow we are going to have to go to the gym and get properly tired. But your mileage will definitely vary.

You can follow John and Jenny on Twitter by following the links and by checking out the #100days hashtag.
